The Dragon Becomes Me!- Martial Archetype: Sparrow

Make your enemies spam, "I need healing!" as you lay on the hurt with this new martial archetype based on Genji! I tried to keep the mechanics away from being thrown weapon based, or based in Dragonblade, but at the end of the archetype you will find a new, but simple magic item based on Genji's sword, Ryuu Ichimonji.

Martial Archetype: Sparrow

Not every fighter focuses on brute strength. Sparrows are fighters who focus on and are named for their mobility, speed, and agility as they fight. Legendary sparrows have been known to be able to even deflect projectiles with this extreme speed and finesse they possess. Despite their names, Sparrows are not to be taken lightly.

Bonus Proficiencies

When you choose this archetype at 3rd level, you gain proficiency in one of the following skills of your choice: Acrobatics, Athletics, Intimidation, Sleight of Hand, or Stealth.

Free-Runner

Starting at 3rd level, as long as you are not wearing heavy armor or using a shield, you have a climb speed equal to your movement speed.

In addition, reduce any falling damage you would take by 5 + your fighter level.

Combat Superiority

At 3rd level, you gain a set of combat abilities, referred to as maneuvers, which are fueled by special dice called superiority dice.

Superiority Dice. You have four superiority dice, which are d8s. A superiority die is expended when you use it. You regain all your expended superiority dice when you finish a short or long rest.

You gain another superiority die at 7th level and one more at 15th level.

Maneuvers. You spend your superiority dice on your maneuvers. You can use more than one maneuver per turn, but no more than one maneuver per attack.

You know the following maneuvers:

Evasive Footwork. When you move, you may expend a superiority die, roll it, and add the number rolled to your AC until you stop moving.

Precision Attack. When you make a weapon attack against a creature, you can expend one superiority die, roll it, and add it to the attack roll. You can use this ability before or after rolling the d20, but before any of the effects of the attack are applied.

Deflect. When you become the target of a ranged weapon attack, you may use your reaction to expend a superiority die, roll it, and add the number to your AC until the start of your next turn. If that attack or another ranged weapon attack misses you while you benefit from this increase to your AC, the attacker rerolls the attack, targeting itself.

Superior Agility. When you make an Acrobatics or Athletic check or Dexterity saving throw, you may expend a superiority die, roll it, and add the number rolled to the check. You can do this before or after rolling the d20, but before applying the results of the check or saving throw.

Swift Strike

Beginning at 7th level, you can launch yourself into a deadly sweep, cutting down any enemy in your path. As an action, you can expend two superiority dice and roll them to leap 30 feet in a straight line. Any creature whose space you move through this way, must make a Dexterity saving throw (DC is equal to your 8 + your Dexterity modifier + your proficiency bonus). On a failed save, it takes damage equal to your weapon’s damage die + the result you rolled on your superiority die, or half as much on a successful save.

Improved Combat Superiority

At 10th level, your superiority dice turn into d10s. At 18th level, they turn into d12s.

Relentless

Starting at 15th level, when you roll initiative and have no superiority dice remaining, you regain one superiority die.

New Magic Item:

Ryuu Ichimonji

(Legendary weapon, longsword, requires attunement)

This curved longsword glows with a faint green aura that when drawn sounds like the roar of a dragon. This sword has a +3 bonus to attack and damage rolls, sheds dim light out to 10 feet, and deals an extra 2d6 force damage on a hit, has the finesse property, and scores a critical hit on a roll of 19 or 20.
